To Hicks Bay, East Cape NZ

We're low on wi-fi tonight, campers, so here are a few snaps from today's drive up the East Cape. Much of the drive was inland, punctuated by tantalizing peeks at the beaches along the way.



On the way into tiny Hicks Bay, where we're staying at a motel run by a woman from Wisconsin (what?), we saw a sign for a cafe. Time for a flat white.

While she made our coffees, we talked to this lovely woman about the manuka honey and related products in her shop. The honey is renown for its healing qualities and is big biz in NZ.



Tomorrow we'll backtrack a bit and take a field trip to the East Cape Lighthouse.
