Seat of Contemplation

A beautiful morning despite the cloud shroud...or maybe because of it. Rain's headed this way courtesy of backblow from Australia's massive Cyclone Debbie. We're still in Anakiwa, on the Queen Charlotte Sound, and asked the proprietor if we might stay another day. Like every Kiwi we've met, she's been most hospitable and said yes.

Ground chicken and vegetables for breakfast.

May I join you? Bella, the owners' venerable black lab, is polite enough to ask

After walking seven miles yesterday and a seated work morning, it was decided a stretch-out was in order. Who knew it would turn into five more miles? They seem to unspool effortlessly.

We're planning our upcoming lodging farther ahead than usual because of Easter, a full four-day weekend in NZ. The nice people who rent caravans advised us to wait until after the holiday because most were spoken for.

Onward, then, to the next piece of a glorious trip. On Wednesday we'll leave for tiny Glenduan on the Tasman Sea, hoping to take the walk shown at this link. The weather may have other ideas.

Here's the route (trouble viewing click here).

For now we're relishing our time here.
